Once Again

I wandered R'lyeh for a long time befre I found him. It was sad. He was just lying there, motionless. No memory of who he was or why he was here. But I needed him to remember. And there was only one way to do so.
"You there!" I called to him. "Duel me!"
"Wha?" he asked, a blank look on his face.
"I'm challenging you," I said. "Get your cards ready."
He took his damn time, but he eventually managed to stand up and strap on his duel disk.

"Okay, since you're incompetent, I'll take the first move," I said. "I summon Azathoth Dragon in attack mode!"
A demonic dragon appeared on my field, with 1850 attack points.
"And with that, I end my turn," I said.

"I draw," he said blandly. "I end my turn.

Damn it. I was hoping he would remember how to duel faster than that. It looked like I would have to get aggressive if I wanted him to get his memories back.

"I draw!" I said. "I activate the effect oif HasturDragon from my hand! By banishing this monster, I can draw two cards!"
I drew my cards; Dimensional Overlay and Last Chance At Victory.
"Since neither of these cards are dragon type monster, I have to discard them both," I said. "Next, I summon Huitloxoptl Dragon!"
A montrous creature appeared on my field, with 1400 attack points.
"With this cards effect, I can bring back the Hastur Dragon that I just banished!" I said.
The dark yellow dragon appeared, with 1800 attack points. Obviously, attacking with all three of them would have dealt a lot of damage, but I didn't want things to end too quickly. Besides, I figured bringing out my ace card sooner would help to speed up his recovery.
"I build the overlay network with these three level 4 dragon type monsters!" I said. "With them, I xyz summon Evil Deity King, Cthulhu God Dragon!"
The great dragon of chaos emerged from the darkness, towering over us both. It had a mighty 3000 attack points.
"I use his effect!" I said. "By detaching an overlay unit and discarding a card, I can draw one card from my deck! And ssince the card I drew was Cthalpa Dragon, He gains 500 attack points until the end phase of this turn. Now, attack!"
My monster attacked him directly, dealing him 3500 damage, bringing him down to 4500 life points.
"With that, I end my turn," I said.

"I draw," he said, examining the cards in his hand carefully. "I end my turn. Since I have seven cards in my hand, I must discard one of them."
Damn. This still wasn't working.

"I draw!" I said. "Then I use my monster's effect again! By using an overlay unit and discarding a card, I can draw a card! And I just drew Yegg-Ha Dragon, so it'll gain 500 attack again!"
My monster rose to 3500 attack points again.
"Now, attack him directly!" I ordered.
His life dropped to 1000. I had him on his last legs. Hopefully, that would be enough to wake him up.
"I set three cards face down," I said.
My face down cards were Mirror Force. This would destroy his attack position monsters if he tried to attack. My next card was Demon Chains Of Chaos. If he used a monsters effect on his field or graveyard, I could negate it by banishing two dark monsters from my graveyard. Huitloxoptl Dragon and Azathoth Dragon were in there. My next card was Overlay Nightmare. By using Cthulhu God Dragon's last overlay unit, I could negate a normal summon and return the monster to his hand. I was prepared for almost anything.
"I end my turn," I said. "Next time, I'll finish you, so make your last turn count."

He drew his next card without saying a word. He looked at what he had drawn for a minute before doing anything.
"I activate two copies of Scion Shroud," he said, placing two spell cards on the field.
Two cloaks appeared, floating in midair as if worn by invisible men. They were serving as monsters. Level 7 with 1500 attack points. Special Summons. Overlay Nightmare couldn't counter that.
"When I have 1000 or less life points, I can summon these spell cards as if they were monsters," he said. "Then, I overlay these two level 7 Scion cards to xyz summon Scion Star Mage."
A sorcerer appeared before him, in star covered black robes. He had 2500 attack points.
"I use Star Mage's effect," he said. "By using both of his overlay units ad skipping my battle phase this turn, I can destroy your monster and inflict damage equal to its attack power."
He was skipping his battle phase. Mirror Force wouldn't work if he didn't attack. And on top of that, Str Mage's effect can't be negated. Demon Chains Of Chaos wouldn't help me. My dragon was destroyed, and I took damage equal to its attack, 3000.
"Now, I activate the spell card Rank Up Magic All Force!" he exclaimed. His passion for dueling was returning to him.
His right hand glowed with a terrible red light, and his features contorted in pain. His monster was engulfed in red light, almost blinding me. As it cleared, his monster changed into a new form. His rank 7 monster was now a rank 8 monster, with a glowing red hand, and the image of space on its robe. The stars and galaxies on the robe were in motion, as if I was actally looking into the night sky through a telescope. It was amazing. His monster had 3300 attack points.
"With All Force, I have ranked up Scion Star Mage into Red Hand; Scion SuperNova Mage!" he said. The name seemed fitting. "As long as I control this monster, the effects of Scion cards cannot be negated," he said. Then, lowering his eyes, he added "No matter where they activate from."
Shit. Now my Demon Chains were completely useless.
"Now, I activate the effect of Scion Strife from my graveyard!" he said.
A level 4 monster with 2000 attack points rose from his graveyard. IT must have been the card he discarded on his previous turn.
"Now, I can use this card to revive an xyz monster from my opponent's graveyard, the attach this card to it as an xyz material," he said. "I use this effect to return Evil Deity King Cthulhu God dragon to your field!"
My xyz monster returned to my field, and Scion Strife attached to it as an overlay unit. He had some kind of crazy plan in stor. I could tell.
"Now, I use Scion SuperNova Mage's effect!" he said. "By detaching an overlay unit, I can destroy any monster on the field, and deal damage to my opponent equal to its attack points! I use this effect to destroy Cthulhu God Dragon!"
Cthulhu was destroyed once again, and I took another 3000 damage, bringing me to 2000 life points.
"Now, the effect of Scion Strife activates!" he said. "Since the monster summoned by his effect was destroyed, we both take damage equal to its attack power!"
Scion Strife rose once more, surrounded by crimson energy. It released its power, about to engulf us both.
"At this time, the effect of Rank Up Magin All Force activates!" he said. "All effect damage I take this turn becomes zero!"
His hand glowed brighter, protecting his life points while mine were reduced to nothing.

He had won. I was impressed. He managed to perfor a one turn kill strategy at the last minute which bypassed all of my trap cards.
"I remember you now," he said. "I remember your name. You're Gordon Tayler."
"That's right," I said.
"And I'm... Saylo Xdranyl," he said.
"Yes you are," I confirmed.
"I remember," he said. "I remember... how much I hate you."
His face twisted into anger. I laughed.
"Yes. You hate me all of your heart," I said. "But that's what makes this fun! I wouldn't be as entertained if I was fighting someone who liked me!"
